The days are long but the years are short.

Right now I'm in the middle of those long days. I have three kids all in different stages, all needing varying levels of mommy's attention. My days are very long right now. My nine year old is pretty independent. He can make food for himself, he's stayed home by himself for short amounts of time, he walks home from school with his group of friends. He just needs a few reminders to put his laundry away and take a shower. (haha! dang pre-teens and their personal hygiene.)

I have a six year old who can make a couple things for herself, pbj, get herself some simple snacks. But I still have to help her rinse her hair after a bath and make sure she brushes her teeth correctly.

And then there's my 1 year old. My sweet baby Clancy. He's a baby, he needs me to wipe his butt! HAHA! But this past year, despite the days dragging, has flown by. I hope time will slow down a little bit.

While I was doing this photo session with this family, I just kept thinking about the day that will inevitably come when my kids won't need me. They'll have jobs, cars, possibly a family of their own, and I'll have all the free time in the world! I can only hope that I raise my kids with as much love as these parents raised their kids with. There was joy, love, kindness and fun just radiating from every picture. Yes, even that somber young man. I loved working with this family and I hope I get to do it again soon.
